Standing Tall

Life withered away her flesh,

Life withered away her call,

Life withered away her innocence,

You could see her barely stand tall,

She only stood tall when people weren’t looking,

In fear that they would no longer see her as small.

She would skip through the fields gracefully,

And scream to the delicate birds “Come join me y’all!”

But in town she felt burnt down,

Like her head was constantly hitting against a stone wall,

She could not believe what life had presented her with thus far,

But she made a decision to rise above the circumstances and dare not fall,

She would skip through the town gracefully,

Life showed her all,

Life showed her love,

Life showed her that she could skip around in front of everyone and still stand tall
